How do I create my first timelapse?
Tap Create on the home screen, give your project a name, then choose photos of the same person across time. For a first film with a satisfying transformation, start with at least 20 clear photos when you can. Photo creation is available on iPhone, iPad, and Android. Lapse uses on-device face detection to keep the person you choose at the heart of the film.
How do I make a Lapse from a video?
If your build offers Use a video, choose it when you start a lapse. Pick one video from 2 seconds to 10 minutes, up to 750 MB and 4K, then choose the 2–60 second part you love. Lapse samples up to 60 useful moments and asks who the story should follow. Moments without that person are left out automatically. Sound is not imported; you can add music when you finish the film.
How do I import from Google Photos?
Start or open a project and choose Add from Google Photos. The first time, review Google’s sign-in and read-only Photos Picker permission. In Google Photos, select up to 2,000 photos and tap Done; Lapse normally returns automatically and downloads only those selected photos into the project. You can use Google Photos’ People, search, or albums to gather pictures of the same person before selecting them. Lapse imports still photos, so selected videos are skipped.
What photo formats are supported?
Lapse supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC/HEIF. On Android, HEIC images are automatically converted. For best results, use high-resolution photos with consistent lighting.
How does face calibration work?
After adding photos, open your project and choose Calibrate faces (or Faces when calibration is already available). Tap a person group to select it as your subject, or choose Review faces to check who is included. Lapse detects and groups faces on-device, then uses your choice to align the sequence. Lapse does not upload your selected photos to its servers.
Can I use photos with multiple people?
Yes. Tap a group to choose that person as your subject. If the same person appears in separate groups, choose Combine groups, select the matching groups, and merge them. Choose Review faces to remove any incorrect matches before continuing.
What can I export?
Lapse exports as MP4 at 480p, 720p, or 1080p, in 1:1, 9:16, or 16:9. Free finished films can run up to 60 seconds; Lapse Pro can extend the finished Lapse film beyond 60 seconds within the duration shown in the app. This is separate from the 2–60 second source-video segment selected during import. Music includes four quick on-device moods and five more with Pro under More music. You can also choose one of your own MP3, M4A, AAC, or WAV files from 2 seconds to 10 minutes and up to 100 MB. Using your own soundtrack adds 1 token to a free export and is included with Pro. Share directly from the app or save to your device.
What happens to my own soundtrack?
After you choose a supported song, Lapse checks it and copies it into the project so your edits can continue after the system picker closes. Previewing, trimming, fading, and export happen on your device; Lapse does not upload the song to its servers or analytics provider. Replacing the song removes the older active project copy, and deleting the project or uninstalling Lapse removes the active app copy. Your operating system may still retain an older copy in a device or cloud backup under your Apple or Google backup settings.
Is my data private?
Face detection and media processing happen on your device, and Lapse does not upload your selected photos or video to its servers. Optional Google Photos access, pseudonymous diagnostics, purchase processing, and device backups involve service providers under the controls described in our Privacy Policy.
Troubleshooting
Detection is slow with many photos
Face detection and alignment are computationally intensive. Processing runs in the background, so you can navigate away and come back — you can also pause and resume it. If it's interrupted, your progress is saved and picks up where it left off. For the fastest start, add 10–20 photos and grow from there.
My exported video looks choppy
Try adjusting the speed in export settings, and make sure your photos are ordered chronologically. Photos with very different angles or lighting can cause jumps — reorder or remove problem frames before exporting.
Google Photos is missing or sign-in will not open
Check that you have the latest available Lapse build and a working internet connection, then fully close and reopen Lapse. If Google reports an old or invalid authorization, remove Lapse from your Google Account connections, return to Lapse, and authorize the read-only picker again. Revoking access prevents future Google Photos imports; it does not remove photos already copied into a local Lapse project.
The Google Photos picker did not return, or fewer photos arrived
After selecting still photos, tap Done and give Lapse time to download them. If Google’s final screen remains open, return to Lapse manually and let the current import settle before starting another. Videos and duplicate photos are skipped, so the final count can be lower than the selection count. For a slow or interrupted connection, retry with a smaller batch; photos that already imported remain in the project.

Privacy & data requests
To ask about access or deletion, email info@minalogicgh.com with the subject Lapse data request. Do not email photos, passwords, or payment receipts. Because Lapse has no user account and does not link your email to its pseudonymous installation identifiers, an email alone may not let us locate a specific historical telemetry record. We will act on Minalogic-controlled data that can be identified, explain any limitation, and identify the relevant Google, Apple, RevenueCat, or Sentry control or retention rule when a provider holds the service or purchase record. Our Privacy Policy lists the immediate controls available in the app and on your device.
Availability
Lapse is publicly available for Android phones and tablets on Google Play and for iPhone & iPad on the App Store. Both public apps support photo-made timelapses.
