We’re here to help you make beautiful timelapses.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I create my first timelapse?
Tap Create on the home screen, give your project a name, and add photos of the same subject taken over time. Lapse uses on-device AI face detection to align and animate them into a smooth timelapse.
What photo formats are supported?
Lapse supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC/HEIF. On Android, HEIC images are automatically converted. For best results, use high-resolution photos with consistent lighting.
How does face calibration work?
After adding photos, open Face Settings and select which face belongs to your subject. Lapse detects faces on-device, groups similar ones, and aligns them frame by frame. All processing happens locally — your photos never leave your device.
Can I use photos with multiple people?
Yes. The face-selection screen lets you pick exactly which face to track. Tap a face to select it, tap again to exclude it, and Lapse focuses on your subject across every frame.
What can I export?
Lapse exports as MP4 or GIF at 480p, 720p, 1080p, or Ultra, in 1:1, 9:16, or 16:9. Share directly from the app or save to your device.
Is my data private?
Yes. All face detection and image processing happens on your device. We never upload, store, or access your photos. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Troubleshooting
Detection is slow with many photos
Face detection and alignment are computationally intensive. Processing runs in the background, so you can navigate away and come back — you can also pause and resume it. If it's interrupted, your progress is saved and picks up where it left off. For the fastest start, add 10–20 photos and grow from there.
My exported video looks choppy
Try adjusting the speed in export settings, and make sure your photos are ordered chronologically. Photos with very different angles or lighting can cause jumps — reorder or remove problem frames before exporting.
