Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Lapse, a mobile application developed by Minalogic ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Lapse, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. The App

Lapse lets you create timelapse videos from photos of the same subject over time and, in supported builds, from moments sampled from one source video. It detects and aligns faces on your device so your subject stays centered across frames, and it lets you edit, export, and share the result.

2. License to Use

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Lapse on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with the rules of the app store you obtained it from.

3. Eligibility

Lapse is not directed at children under 13, and you must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction (and meet the app store's minimum age) to use it. By using the app you confirm that you meet these requirements.

4. Your Content

Your photos, videos, and custom soundtracks are yours. Lapse processes them on your device to build your timelapse. We do not claim ownership of your content, we do not upload selected media to a Lapse content backend, and there is no Lapse media backend that stores it. You are responsible for the media you add and for having the right to use it. If you add media of a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have permission from one.

Your active projects, imported photos or extracted video frames, custom-soundtrack copies, temporary source-video copies, and managed exports live in app-private storage on your device. Lapse accepts one custom MP3, M4A, AAC, or WAV soundtrack from 2 seconds to 10 minutes and up to 100 MB per project; replacing it removes the older active project copy. A temporary source-video copy used for recovery or retrimming can remain for up to 24 hours and may be removed sooner after normal completion or project deletion. Deleting a project or uninstalling Lapse removes the active app copy, but your operating system may retain an older copy in a device or cloud backup under your Apple or Google backup settings. Review those backups separately if you need every platform-managed copy removed. Keeping independent backups of content you care about is your responsibility.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Lapse to:

• process photos or videos of people without a lawful basis or, where required, their consent;
• create or share content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or infringes others' rights;
• reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code except to the extent permitted by law;
• circumvent usage limits, licensing, or security measures, or misuse the app in a way that harms other users or the service.

6. Free Tier, Subscriptions & Purchases

Lapse is free to download and use. On the free tier:

• Exports use export tokens. Each export consumes at least one token. Removing the watermark, exporting more than 100 visible photos, or using your own soundtrack each adds 1 token on the free tier. The exact token cost of an export is shown in the app before you export. New installations include a small starter balance of free tokens.
• Watermark. Free exports include a "created with Lapse" watermark by default. You can remove it for one extra token per export, or keep it on if you like it.
• Limits. The free tier limits how many projects you can create and how many moments each project can contain. We may adjust the free-tier limits, the starter balance, and the token cost of export options from time to time; changes apply prospectively and do not remove media from existing projects.

Optional purchases unlock more:

• Lapse Pro — a subscription (monthly or yearly) or a one-time lifetime purchase. Pro exports consume no tokens (including exports that use your own soundtrack), watermark removal is included, the free-tier limits on projects and moments per project do not apply, and Pro includes finished Lapse films beyond 60 seconds and the expanded preset soundtrack library within the limits and availability shown in the current app. The longer-film benefit applies to the finished output, not the 2–60 second source-video segment selected during import.
• Export token packs — one-time consumable purchases that add export tokens to your balance.

7. Third-Party Services

Lapse works with third-party services, and your use of them is subject to their terms: the Apple App Store and Google Play (distribution and billing), and RevenueCat (subscription management). If you choose to import from Google Photos, you sign in with your Google account, and that feature is additionally subject to Google's Terms of Service; you can revoke Lapse's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Lapse's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. See our Privacy Policy for how data is handled.

8. Intellectual Property

Lapse, including its software, design, name, and logo, is owned by Minalogic and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in our trademarks or branding.

Apple, the Apple logo, iPhone, and iPad are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries and regions. App Store is a service mark of Apple Inc. Google Play and the Google Play logo are trademarks of Google LLC.

9. Disclaimer

Lapse is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that face detection, subject matching, video sampling, and alignment will be accurate for every moment. You use the app at your own discretion and risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Minalogic will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of Lapse. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app (if any) in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Changes to the App & These Terms

We may update, change, or discontinue features of Lapse at any time. We may also update these Terms; when we do, we'll revise the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Termination

You may stop using Lapse at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ghana, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer-protection rights you may have under the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
